I have extensive experience editing recipes. In fact, most of my career has specialized in editing food-related material. I worked for seven years as a recipe editor and senior recipe editor of the Food department at Southern Living magazine, where I oversaw the editing of up to 4,000 recipes/year and led an update of the 200-page style guide devoted strictly to SL recipe style. I have also worked on numerous cookbooks, such as United Tastes of Texas, Southern Living’s Recipe Revival, Todd English’s Cooking in Everyday English, Rebecca Lang’s Around the Southern Table, Christmas with Southern Living, Rebecca Kracke Gordon’s The Half-Hour Hostess, and The Southern Living SEC Official Tailgating Cookbook, among others.
“Having worked alongside Ashley for many years at Southern Living magazine, not only on publication production but on my cookbooks, The Half Hour Hostess and The Official SEC Tailgating Cookbook, I can attest to her diligence in accuracy, dedication and drive to make sure all recipes that cross her desk are positioned for ease for cooks across an array of skill levels. She embodies the utmost professionalism, character, and integrity.” – Rebecca Gordon, Founder of Buttermilk Lipstick

“When Ashley sent her first set of edits, I knew that she was the perfect person for me to work with on my writing. Her attention to detail, vast grammatical and structural knowledge, and her ability to read things from a perspective that you hadn’t thought of makes her such a great asset to any writer. She is fast, thorough, and invested in making your work the best it can be. After working with Ashley, I landed an agent and can’t wait to work with her again on my next project.” – Danielle Herzog, Writer and Blogger at Martinis and Minivans
